101 Non-Food Activities to Make Fasting Easier and More Fun!

Having fun is often associated with eating, but, it’s important to note that there are many non-food activities that are fun and satisfying.

In fact, if you live an intermittent fasting lifestyle like I do, finding non-food activities can be a great way to make fasting easier and way more fun too.

This post will explore 101 super fun and creative ways to have fun without food!

MOVE THAT BODY

Non-Food Activities like engaging in physical activity is a great way to have fun and improve your health at the same time. Whatever you choose, the endorphins released during exercise will help you feel good and energized.

  1. Go on a HIKE and just enjoy the beauty of nature around you!
  2. Sign-Up for a DANCE class!
  3. Take your cute little dog or your cute little spouse for a WALK!
  4. Join a SPORTS TEAM!
  5. Go on a BIKE or a MOTORCYCLE ride!
  6. Take a YOGA class, after you buy brand new leggings for yourself, of course!
  7. Head to the GOLF COURSE or take your kids to play MINIATURE GOLF!
  8. Dive in and go for a SWIM!
  9. Roll on over to the rink for some ICE or ROLLER SKATING!
  10. Go for a leisurely RUN through your neighborhood or get crazy and train for a ROAD RACE or even a MARATHON.
  11. Bundle up and go SNOWBOARDING, SLEDDING, DOWNHILL SKIING or SNOW TUBING!
  12. Make a splash and go SURFING, SNORKELING, BOATING (canoeing, kayaking, sailing), RAFTING or WATER SKIING!
  13. Put on your brave face and go ROCK CLIMBING, SCUBA DIVING, BUNGEE JUMPING, SKATEBOARDING or SKYDIVING (ummmm, no thank you – not for me)!
  14. Try for a TURKEY (3 strikes in a row) at the BOWLING alley!
  15. DRIBBLE the SOCCER or the BASKETBALL!
  16. Grab a racket and head to the TENNIS courts or a bat and head to the BASEBALL or SOFTBALL fields.
  17. Get in touch with nature and go FISHING, HUNTING, or CAMPING!
  18. Aim for a BULLSEYE at your nearest ARCHERY CLUB or SHOOTING RANGE.
  19. Head out and Go GEOCACHING, which is essentially treasure hunting that is fun for both adults and kids.
  20. Get sandy and salty at the beach and play some BEACH VOLLEYBALL or enter the biggest SAND CASTLE BUILDING contest.
Non-Food Activities like running can be both satisfying and rewarding.

LEARN A NEW SKILL

Non-Food Activities that involve learning a new skill can be both a fun and rewarding experience. There are plenty of options to choose from and not only will you have fun, but you’ll also be stimulating your brain and potentially building new social connections at the same time.

  1. What is it that you have always wanted to learn? Why not take a PAINTING, DRAWING, SCULPTING, WOODWORKING, COOKING, SEWING, or PHOTOGRAPHY class!
  2. Head to your garden for some PRUNING and PLANTING!
  3. SING or WRITE a new song or poem!
  4. Take an IMPROV, ACTING or MARTIAL ARTS class!
  5. Learn to PLAY A MUSICAL INSTRUMENT or LEARN A NEW LANGUAGE!
  6. Search PINTEREST for a new CRAFT IDEA or RECIPE that you can try!

JUST GET OUT OF THE HOUSE

Sometimes it helps to just switch things up, get out of the house and enjoy some different scenery.

  1. Get in touch with your cultural side and head to a PLAY or MUSICAL. Or, what about an ART GALLERY or a beautiful BOTANICAL GARDEN?
  2. Become mesmerized by the stars at a PLANETARIUM or by the exotic sea and land animals at the ZOO or AQUARIUM!
  3. Head out and catch some thrills at an AMUSEMENT PARK, WATER PARK, TRAMPOLINE PARK or a local CARNIVAL!
  4. Save a few pennies and visit a FLEA MARKET, CONSIGNMENT SHOP or a subdivision GARAGE SALE (personally, this is my absolute FAVORITE thing to do while fasting.
  5. Live out your famous singer fantasies and find a place that offers some KARAOKE fun.
  6. Meet a friend at a COFFEE SHOP (just make sure you drink plain black coffee or green tea so you can successfully keep your intermittent fast going.)
  7. Turn back time and visit a HISTORICAL SITE or an ANTIQUE SHOP!
  8. Take your kids to an indoor or outdoor PLAYGROUND or your dog to one of those very cool DOG PARKS!
  9. Visit your local ORCHARD, PICK APPLES or BERRIES, bring them home and spend the afternoon CANNING or BAKING with your fresh produce.
  10. Why not head to your local LIBRARY or pick out a new book from the BOOKSTORE!
  11. Indulge your adventurous side and play some LASER TAG or check out an ESCAPE ROOM!
  12. Or laugh until your cheeks hurt at a COMEDY SHOW!
Non-Food Activities like walking your dog or garage saling can be satisfying and helpful while you are intermittent fasting.
My two favorite non-food activities!

JUST RELAX AND CHILL

Sometimes we just need to chill and there are plenty of non-food activities and ways to do just that!

  1. SHOP ’til you drop with a friend or enjoy some alone time while indulging in some serious retail therapy.
  2. Make a special CRAFT for someone that you love!
  3. READ a trashy novel or work on a SCRAPBOOK while wearing your favorite comfy yoga pants.
  4. Gather up a few friends or family members and play CARDS or a BOARD GAME!
  5. Take a BUBBLE BATH or pamper yourself with a relaxing beauty or SPA TREATMENT.
  6. Relive your childhood and play a game of HIDE and SEEK with your kids or a steamy game of TRUTH or DARE with your spouse!
  7. Or watch a sappy Hallmark or a cheesy, very predictable Lifetime MOVIE while cuddling with your favorite pet!
  8. Spread kindness like confetti with RANDOM ACTS OF KINDNESS!
Non-Food Activities like treating yourself with a spa day can be satisfying and helpful while you are intermittent fasting.
At-home pampering treatments are the BEST!

As you can see, food is definitely not needed to have tons of fun! So, grab your plain black coffee, green tea or plain sparkling mineral water and have a fabulous day of fasting!
