In this post, Žan shares his tips on intermittent fasting and exercise, favorite fasting schedules, and even information on an awesome intermittent fasting tracking app that he created himself.

Žan’s Top 4 Intermittent Fasting Wins

Žan has been fasting for about four years now.

In that time, he has experienced many wins with intermittent fasting but his top four are as follows:

  • #1 FLEXIBILITY – Žan absolutely LOVES the flexibility that comes with living an intermittent fasting lifestyle. He really enjoys being able to pick and choose what works best for him off of the large “fasting menu.”
  • #2 “IF” IS SUSTAINABLE – Žan loves that following an intermittent fasting plan is sustainable and a tool that he plans to use and easily stick with for the rest of his life.
  • #3 WEIGHT LOSS – TONED BODY – Intermittent fasting has really helped Žan feel comfortable with the way his body looks. Overall, Žan lost about 10 pounds with fasting. More importantly, though, he has built lean muscle and has improved his overall health in so many amazing ways.
  • #4 INCREASED ENERGY – Intermittent fasting has given Žan so much energy. He consistently feels focused, alert, and energized to blast through his busy day.
Zan's Top 4 Intermittent Fasting Wins

Preferred Intermittent Fasting Method – 18:6

Žan has experienced incredible success with the 18:6 intermittent fasting method.

His “Fasting Windows” and “Eating Windows” are as follows:

  • FASTING WINDOW: 6PM – Noon the next day
  • EATING WINDOW: Noon – 6PM
18:6 or 18 Hour Intermittent Fasting - So What IF? with Jen

After much trial and error with fasting, Žan has realized why the 18:6 fasting schedule works so well for him.

FIRST, breakfast doesn’t really work for him. Žan has noticed that when he eats breakfast, it ruins his focus, makes him feel sluggish and more hungry earlier in the day.

Breaking his fast with a nice light lunch around noon works perfect for him.

NEXT, Žan doesn’t sleep well when he eats too late in the evening – ending his fast around 6PM has been the sweet spot for feeling his absolute best.

FINALLY, Žan enjoys having a set schedule – a few rules and boundaries that he can easily stick too.

The 18:6 daily fasting schedule makes him feel at the top of his game.

Hey fasting friends – not only does Žan use a fasting app – he created his very own fasting tracker app. How stinkin’ cool is that?

Biggest Challenge with Intermittent Fasting

Žan sometimes struggles with staying consistent with intermittent fasting. “Life just gets in the way sometimes, making it hard to be consistent ALL of the time.”

Although, Žan has had periods in his life where he has gotten busy and moved away from fasting for a few weeks or even a few months – he always comes back because he knows what a powerful weight maintenance and health tool fasting can be.

Fasting Window Favorites

Žan tends to keep things “CLEAN” during his fasting window, primarily sticking to plain black coffee or water during his fasting periods.

He recognizes the importance of staying hydrating, especially when following an intermittent fasting plan, which is why he carries his large trusty water bottle with him at all times.

Importance of Hydration when Fasting!

Žan doesn’t currently use an electrolyte supplement, however, he often adds a simple pinch of salt to his water on days when he has a long workout or needs a little extra boost.

Eating Window Favorites

Žan likes simple meals. He also understands the importance of limiting his consumption of processed and ultra processed foods (with his weakness being plain sugar donuts dunked in milk-lol).

Instead Žan focuses on eating less meat and on healthy, nutrient-dense whole foods.

Žan’s GO-TO eating window favorites are:

  • Salmon with Rice or Risotto
  • Vegetables
  • Greek Yogurt topped with fresh fruit (berries, mango) and a drizzle of honey and sometimes a small bit of dark chocolate

Intermittent Fasting Exercise Routine

Žan enjoys keeping his body active and healthy and is currently training to run a half marathon in Slovenia on October 19, 2025.

His exercise routine consists of the following:

  • STRENGTH TRAINING – dumbbells at home 3 times a week
  • RUNNING – currently training for a half marathon
  • BIKING/CYCLING – Žan loves the views of nature as he bikes through Slovenia

As far as *FASTED EXERCISE* goes, Žan follows a 50/50 approach.

He typically feels his best when he is in the fasted state during a strength training workout and the non-fasted state when he completes a more rigorous running or biking cardio training session.

Žan‘s Final Gem

Žan’s best intermittent fasting tip, or shiniest gem is simple but very powerful.

  • Find a fasting schedule that makes you feel great and just stick with it! Results will come – just take things slow and steady. Doing too much, too soon, is not sustainable.

But most of all: “HAVE A DAY THAT YOU ARE PROUD OF!”
